Great success for Italian wine but especially for Campania.
In Brussels, at the headquarters of the European Parliament, the area comprised of the Samnite cities of Guardia Sanframondi, Castelvenere, Sant’Agata de ‘Goti, Solopaca and Torrecuso won the coveted recognition of “City of Wine” 2019.
This victory represents even more, today, a considerable boost not only for the Samnite viticulture but for that of the whole of Campania.
The Sannio, known above all for the production of Falanghina in still and sparkling versions, today produces 40% of the entire wine production of the Region. Plus, 80% of the Falanghina grape reserve comes from this province.
Numerous initiatives that must bring this territory to the attention of the European Union, making it especially known for its traditions, culture and the historical, artistic and natural beauties of the territory.
“The investiture of the Sannio – declared the mayors of the district – represents a significant recognition of the historic link between our land and wine, as well as rewarding its excellent products, which are born from the sacrifices of passionate winemakers, whose precious work it is fundamental not only for the production of excellent wines, but also for the precious role of sentinels of a quality territory ».
«The ‘Sannio Falanghina’ project – the first citizens continue – aims to strengthen awareness activities for the culture and tradition of wine, involving businesses, citizens and the entire territory in the promotion of the wine resource. And the goal is to preserve natural and landscape resources through sustainable development of the territory “. “We have presented – conclude the mayors – a rich dossier involving twenty municipalities, including the capital city, which contains 120 actions and activities to be implemented in the next year, of which a high percentage will be destined to have effects in the time. Not only promotional initiatives, but also an incentive to develop a culture of acceptance, understood in the broadest sense. The Sannio is a rich territory, with a great history that has left important testimonies, with a unique wealth of riches, able to attract the attention of the “travelers of the territory“, of those tourists who intend the journey as an opportunity for growth and enrichment of one’s own knowledge, of one’s own culture “.
The last time in Italy was in 2016 when the Veneto area of Valdobbiadene-Conegliano was chosen.
GOOD FALANGHINA TO ALL!
